The last morning in Bergamo, I woke up as usual around 8am, and had a breakfast. It was the day heading to Venice, also first time trying hitchhiking! After breakfast with friend, I started to prepare sign for stopping the car, one of most exciting moment in travel! I walked to the petrol station which closest to high way, standing there for 3 hours under sunny weather, first car stop for me finally, took me a little bit forward, second car came very fast, brought me going 20kms, then....no more car anymore. It was 3 pm already, and still far away to Venice, one chinese guy picked me up to train station, unfortunately, first hitchhiking experience failed! Taking train for 1.5hrs, reaching Venice finally!
Venice was one of most important city in the world, there is a Shakespeare's play named "The merchant of Venice", it was most well-known business city, now it's super popular tourist city. My first image to Venice is a big maze, most of time didn't know where were I, the streets are small, houses have different colors, there are a lot of canals on every corner, really enjoy losing the way in this city, every time turn the corner is surprises. To photographer is kind of heaven! Sunrise, day time, afternoon, sunset and night are all dissimilar, but sunrise time is the best time to walk in Venice, because not so many tourists as others time. There is special boat here - Gondola, it was the main transportation in Venice for couples centuries before, due to small streets, only Gondola can go throw all the city and transport merchandise. In 11th-century, the quantity of Gondolas reached 10,000, there were a lot of different designs to each one. After 1562, government made rule to integrate the designs and color to Gondola, that's why we only can see black Gondolas in Venice now.
When I was losing in the city, I was passing one mask shop, there was a old man making masks there, it caught my eyes, no customs inside but attractive to me, I went in to have a short chat with him, he said all the masks in shop are hand-made, he have made its for 17 years already, it was very special experience here, but I can't describe the certain location where it is unfortunately, but it was the only special hand-made masks shop in Venice I saw. The most famous thing here is mask carnival, usually on February, I would come back for it, but actually, if I'm lucky enough, I really wanna see the view of "Venice acqua alta", it make my photographer blood burning!! Hope I can see it in real!
